Role: Solo & Lead Product Designer, worked closely with Founder, Lead Engineer, influenced product strategy
I created, designed, and shipped two entire mobile apps for business and consumer-facing experiences singlehandedly from ground zero. And, was a key contributor to the brand, and product's vision and goals for our users and business. Starting from only a few paged outlines of rough wireframes of the main screen for the consumer-facing app.
Challenge: Conceptualize A Service Provider and consumer Apps From Scratch
Understand and work closely with the Founder to get a full picture of the app plus features that are a high-level part of the first MVP for both the business and consumer-facing side of the applications. Identifying sections first and then understanding the goals of the business alongside the end customers' goals were important to lockdown.
After the goals and features were agreed upon quick sketches were done to flesh out the tasks and user flows. Providing a light version of how both sides of the app communicate with one another alongside the specific user tasks within it.
Outcome
To work quickly to our launch date, it was important to get buy-in from our Engineering team early on so they could tackle the time-consuming backend builds needed to connect to design once the high-fidelity comps were completed. A quick diagram flow for our initial discussion with our Lead Engineer was needed to start our conversation on how the two apps communicate with one another. This low-fidelity wireframing would be our talking point of how the apps work. The Founder and Engineers had a vision and quick snapshot of how the app moves from screen to screen, the feasibility of the build, and what components to divide and conquer from a front-end and back-end engineering perspective. These key wireframes would become the roadmap for future deliverables to completion. Product Design to continue creating user flows.
Stay tuned for a glimpse into start-to-finish apps, more screens coming soon! Below is a glimpse of some of the two apps' interfaces and experiences.
